Eco-Friendly Toronto

In general, how cities function today are typically very bad for the environment. From the pollution of construction to a city’s constant stream of waste pollution, cities are constantly adding to the decline in environmental health. Toronto is no different in these respects. However, Toronto is taking several steps in the right direction towards improving its environmental impact.

Toronto is constantly expanding and developing in new ways. As construction continues and pollution furthers, it is very hard to imagine that the city could do anything environmentally-conscious. As far-fetched as the idea may seem, the city is making efforts to spare further pollution.

Throughout the city, the streets are generally quite clean. Toronto has garbage and recycling bins located throughout the city in parks and on nearly every popular city street. This also promotes mindfulness when it comes to recycling, especially considering signs throughout the city which detail proper disposal of different types of waste.

The city also encourages eco-friendly alternatives to driving. City bikes are available throughout Toronto and bike lanes and signals are also very prominent throughout downtown Toronto. Fortunately, people have begun to take advantage of these incredible bike-related features. Of course, biking in the colder seasons in Toronto is not always the best option.

The TTC, Toronto’s public transit service is an excellent alternative to driving. The city is also in the process of expanding the TTC to make it even more accessible.

These environmentally-friendly options make for a cleaner Toronto and bring the city closer to improvement.
